Gallery Communications & Exhibitions Assistant

The Gallery Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting daily operations, administration, and events at a London-based gallery. Responsibilities include event management, overseeing logistics such as catering, equipment, and diary planning, and assisting with front desk duties during gallery events. The role involves creating and distributing mailers, press releases, and exhibition signage, updating the gallery website, and supporting social media efforts. Day-to-day tasks also include managing stationery, sales PDFs, and artist portfolios, as well as liaising with artists. Additionally, the Assistant will ensure the gallery space is maintained and operational, providing support for curatorial and production activities.

Job Requirements

About You:

  1. A degree in a relevant field.
  2. A strong understanding of the gallery and cultural sector.
  3. Ability to synthesize and communicate information clearly, both orally and in writing.
  4. Previous experience in a museum/gallery or similar organisation.
  5. Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and resources effectively.
  6. Strong communication skills, with the flexibility to engage confidently with diverse teams and individuals.
  7. Proficient in Art Logic, Photoshop, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  8. Excellent digital capabilities (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, social media).

Additional Information:

The role will be based at Josh Lilley Gallery, London.
Working hours: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (with a 30-minute lunch break).
We are ideally looking for someone who can start in March 2025, but we are open to flexibility for the right candidate.
