We’re recruiting for an experienced 2nd Line Engineer on behalf of a leading IT services provider. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring junior team members, and is comfortable providing both remote and on-site support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide second-line technical support via the Service Desk, including hardware and software troubleshooting
- Attend client sites as required for proactive and reactive support
- Ensure long-term, cost-effective solutions that align with client needs
- Support and mentor junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and best practices
- Recommend system improvements and upgrades based on client requirements and service offerings
- Deliver a professional, proactive approach to customer service
- Maintain a logical, methodical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2003–2022) and Desktop OS (XP–11)
- Experience with Office 365 setup and administration
- VMware and/or Hyper-V administration skills
- Hosted Desktop and Terminal Server environments
- Solid networking experience (DNS, routing, switching)
- Familiarity with VoIP systems, ideally 3CX
- Experience with Cisco or Draytek routers and firewalls
- Knowledge of Azure AD, Intune, and Microsoft Defender
- Group Policy management
- Exposure to Ubiquiti or Cisco wireless systems
- Previous experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
