Shannon & Wilson is requesting applications for a Senior Structural Engineer with 14+ years of experience in structural engineering design. Experience in structural design and technical management for underground infrastructure for water/wastewater, transportation, transit, and railroad projects is preferred. The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for leading the design process and review, creating structural models using computer-aided technology, and providing structural services in geotechnical, natural resources, tunnels, and railroad markets.
Responsibilities
- Support project opportunities locally and nationwide in coordination with Shannon & Wilson office managers and practice leads.
- Support marketing services with qualifications input to proposals, participating in project interviews, and presentations.
- Developing project scope of work, budgets, and follow cost control strategies.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to support junior and entry level engineers.
- Prepare and write engineering reports, analyses, specifications, drawings, and calculations.
- Provide technical review and quality assurance.
- Provide engineering services during construction to include reviewing contractor submittals, response to requests for information, and periodic site visits.
- Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
- Support developing cost estimates for designs.
- Follow and promote Shannon and Wilson's Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.
- Master or PhD Degree in structural engineering is preferred.
- Minimum 14 years of experience in structural engineering for underground structures preferred.
- Professional Civil Engineering (PE) License is required.
- Professional Structural Engineering (SE) License is desired.
- Experience with delivering structural projects with public and private clients.
- Experience with multiple contracting methodologies such as design bid build and design build.
- Active participation in the local, regional and national industry related conferences and seminars.
- Demonstrated experience using 3-D structural analysis software. (CSi, SAP2000, MIDAS, RISA 3D, P-Y Wall)

Typically, depending on an applicant's education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, a Senior-Level Structural Engineer typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Associate or Senior Associate level. Associate range: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 Senior Associate range: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00
