With an established track record of enhancing both properties and their surrounding environments, we take pride in our diverse, continually evolving portfolio.

As part of the Shanly Group, we have built a reputation for long-term investment, entrepreneurial thinking and creating lasting value through property investment, development and asset management. Sorbon Estates is looking for an accomplished Finance Director to join our senior leadership team, working in close partnership with the Managing Director to drive the commercial, operational and financial success of the business. This is far more than a traditional finance role. We are seeking a strong leader who can combine commercial insight with hands-on delivery, enhancing performance across the portfolio and supporting the continued success of the company.

About the role:

  • Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will become a trusted deputy, helping shape business strategy, influence key decisions and support the long-term success of the company.
  • With broad influence across finance, operations, asset management, transactions and development activity, you will play a central role in driving performance, strengthening decision-making and creating long-term value across the portfolio.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance function, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting and meaningful management information.
  • Analyse portfolio performance, identifying opportunities to enhance returns, reduce risk and unlock value across the investment portfolio.
  • Provide commercial support and challenge across leasing, investment, development and refurbishment projects.
  • Play an active role in acquisitions and transactions, from initial appraisal through to completion.
  • Oversee financial planning, banking relationships, refinancing activities and covenant management.
  • Review development appraisals, project viability, build costs and programme assumptions, ensuring investment decisions are commercially sound.
  • Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and reporting, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, supporting teams to improve performance, accountability and commercial awareness.

About you:

  • Significant senior finance leadership experience within property investment, development or a related real estate environment.
  • Qualified accountant with strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into practical business decisions.
  • Experience supporting or leading property transactions, acquisitions, leasing activity or asset management initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of property finance, taxation, VAT and investment appraisal.
  • Confident in reviewing, interpreting and challenging legal, commercial and financial documentation.
  • Credible and influential leader who can build strong relationships at all levels and operate effectively in a privately owned business.
  • Naturally curious and tenacious who enjoys solving problems.

What we offer in return:

  • A fulfilling culture built on long term investments and a commitment to excellence, where we encourage innovation, embrace problem-solving and initiative, uphold a strong work ethic, drive continuous improvement, and remain committed to giving back.
  • Enjoy working in an impressive, modern office in the heart of Beaconsfield Old Town, with easy road links and train access.
  • A privately-owned business with the benefits of a financially strong company that prioritises long-term success over short-term gains.
  • Competitive salary and car allowance.
  • Discretionary annual and long-term bonus schemes.
  • Annual leave starting at 25 days to a max of 30 days.
  • Enhanced pension scheme through salary exchange.
  • Free private medical insurance and life assurance.
  • Wellbeing benefits including weekly fitness sessions, on-demand GP service, gym discounts and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Discount scheme with savings across a range of sectors.
  • Social events throughout the year.
