Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Sales Representative (Independent Trade) role based in Glasgow City. The Sales Representative will acquire new business, manage and grow relationships with independent retailers and local wholesalers, promoting Shankar Foods' product portfolio and identifying new business opportunities in the region. Day-to-day tasks include visiting stores, presenting product ranges, securing orders, and ensuring effective merchandising and stock rotation. The role also involves monitoring sales performance, gathering market feedback, and reporting insights to the wider team to support promotional activities and pricing strategies. The Sales Representative will collaborate with internal teams on order processing, delivery coordination, and customer issue resolution to maintain high service standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field sales, FMCG, or grocery/retail account management, ideally within food or World Foods.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills to engage independent retailers and wholesalers.
- Ability to plan routes, manage a territory, and work autonomously to meet sales targets and KPIs.
- Comfortable with basic sales reporting, use of CRM or sales apps, and handling order and stock information.
- Knowledge of the UK grocery landscape and interest in global cuisines and multicultural communities.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel within Glasgow City and surrounding areas.
- Organized, proactive, and resilient, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Relevant education in business, marketing, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory.
