Celebrating Shakespeare is at the heart of everything we do. The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for three Visitor Services Assistants to work at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Shakespeare’s New Place Gardens to support us over the 2026 season. The contract is from May 2026 to Sunday 1 November 2026. Working 27 hours per week over 4 days including alternate weekends. The working day will be from 9.45 am to 5.00 pm and will include working weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays.
As Visitor Services Assistant you will provide consistently high standards of visitor care at all times, from the moment of arrival through the entrance, exhibition, garden and house, to the final point of departure, ensuring every visitor has a safe and enjoyable experience.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of working in a public or visitor‑facing role, be agile and flexible to what is required, be committed to providing excellent customer service, be IT literate and able to confidently operate till and ticketing systems, and used to working as part of a team.
Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s Birthplace will be open seven days a week 10.00 am to 5.00 pm, Shakespeare’s New Place Gardens will be open seven days 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. You will be required to work weekdays, alternate weekends and a fair share of Bank Holidays so you should be flexible and available. There will also be a requirement to work out of hours events.
