About the role: As a Registered General Nurse you will be required to hold a valid NMC Pin and provide the details to Shaftesbury. Your duties will include ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided to all people supported. You will be involved in assessments, medication administration and care planning implementation and evaluation. Shaftesbury Treetops is a high-dependency, residential care home providing 24-hour nursing and personal care for adults with disabilities, most of whom are younger. Our home is a large accessible building. Our spacious and welcoming environment provides modern facilities with daily nursing care.
Main duties of the job:
- To provide leadership to the care support staff ensuring they take their roles effectively and service users receive high standard of care.
- To have a key responsibility for the quality of nursing administration and assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation.
- To be directly involved in the clinical needs of the people residing at the service.

Job responsibilities:
- To act as shift leader when allocated on the roster ensuring that all required tasks to ensure the safety of the service user are undertaken and recorded.
- To monitor that the unit is adequately staffed bringing to the attention of the line manager where there are shortfalls in staffing levels and seek approval for replacement cover.
- Act as a role model in the clinical setting demonstrating the delivery of evidenced based, client centred care to service users with physical disabilities with or without a learning disability.
- To coordinate, prepare and participate in service user reviews including preparing of appropriate reports prior to the meetings.
- Provide expert nursing advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team caring for service users, especially within the residential home.
- Undertake quality standards monitoring and clinical audit system for care of service users with physical disabilities.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the care delivered to service users, to their family or other carers is quality driven, in line with best practice and quality standards.
- Participate in holistic care plan meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
- Promote a homely atmosphere where service users' choice, rights, freedom and dignity are preserved.
- Work with the Deputy Manager to identify areas where change is required or where opportunities exist for improving treatment, care and support for service users.

Person Specification:
- Evidence of continued professional and personal development.
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
- Registered Nurse (RN)/ Registered Nurse Mental Health (RNMH)/ Registered Nurse Learning Disability.
- ENB 998 or other relevant training qualification.
- At least 1 year’s clinical experience within care setting including supporting and supervision/appraising of staff.
- Ability to lead a team of staff.
- Good teaching skills both formal and informal.
- At least 1 year’s experience working with people with physical disabilities.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good report writing skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
