As a Registered Manager you will provide support to the staff and people supported and take full responsibility for the development and implementation of systems and processes to ensure we provide the highest quality of care and support. We are looking for a candidate who holds their CQC registration, and RGN PIN and their Level 5 in Health and Social Care, or are willing to work towards this qualification. Treetops is a high-dependency, residential care home providing 24-hour nursing and personal care for adults with disabilities, most of whom are younger.

Main duties of the job

As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the care home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with all relevant legislation. You will lead and manage a team to provide safe, compassionate, and person-centred care to adults in a residential setting. Your key focus will be to ensure the wellbeing of the people we support while promoting independence, dignity, and respect.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties: Ensuring that we are providing good or outstanding support to all of the people we support. Take responsibility for understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements. Ensure that the service follows Shaftesbury policy and procedures, investigate when not, and embed any learning. Undertake or assign key self-assessment audits to ensure compliance with the good governance calendar. Monitor the quality of records using sampling methods. Keep an overview of the KPIs for the service to ensure it is performing in line with Shaftesbury’s expectations. Act as Local Safeguarding Lead. Monitor rotas to ensure appropriate delivery of support in line with the budget. Own the management accounts and have a working knowledge of variances. Ensure care needs are reassessed and new contracts are put in place as needed. Undertake an annual service improvement plan with guidance from the relevant director. Monitor operating systems in line with policies and procedures and ensure regular audits. Ensure service compliance with regulatory frameworks and placing authority contract requirements. Attend local networking opportunities or ensure representation by a team member. Implement the delivery plan for the service. Work with the Director on key strategic projects. Support the organisation to deliver its objectives by engaging with the wider community. Provide direct supervision and coaching to Service Delivery Leaders and Team Leaders. Support staff wellbeing. Chair staff meetings. Identify staff training needs and plan to meet them in conjunction with Service Delivery Leaders and Team Leaders. Support ongoing staff development to meet the needs of the people we support. Additional duties may include promoting Shaftesbury values, undertaking reports, other duties as required, on-call duties, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders internal and external.

  • Track record of achievement in the following areas: development and delivery of continuously improving high quality services; effective management and leadership; financial management and budgeting; business planning; experience of working within a service audited by the appropriate regulator; knowledge of and ability to implement and be compliant with the regulatory essential standards of quality and safety; knowledge of strengths and needs of people experiencing learning disabilities/physical/sensory challenges; knowledge of person-centred planning and user reviews; experience of managing staff and volunteers including recruiting, inducting and developing individuals and teams; Registered Manager experience; experience of performance management including handling disciplinary and grievance issues; awareness of community-based resources for adults experiencing learning disabilities and/or mental health needs; understanding of management issues in delivering community-based services; experience of rota management; for Nursing units: track record of running a nursing service; experience running a service for people with complex medical and clinical needs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification; managers taking the Level 5 Diploma should use the full breadth of RQF units available to ensure qualification relevance to the role; application to the relevant regulator for Registered Manager status and interview with the Commission to determine suitability; evidence of continued professional and personal development; Registered Manager Award or equivalent qualification; relevant social work qualification and registration; relevant nursing, physiotherapy or occupational therapy qualification and registration; up-to-date training in statutory courses including Fire Safety, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, Adult/Child Protection, First Aid, Equality & Diversity, etc.
