The Opportunity

Shadow Robot is a leading robotics company in North London, looking for a commercially experienced Mechatronics Technician for a 6-month contract. This role is not for graduates as we need plenty of experience due to the nature of the project.

You will be the hands-on support that enables senior engineers to focus on complex design challenges – assembling, testing, debugging, and documenting robotic systems as part of an important international project.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assembling and building prototype electro-mechanical robotic systems
  • Setting up and running tests on components and systems
  • Debugging electronics and capturing data accurately
  • Maintaining workshop equipment and development space
  • Writing clear documentation for tests and processes
  • Supporting senior engineers so they can focus on design and innovation

What You’ll Bring

  • Commercial experience as a Mechatronics Technician or Engineer
  • Experience in testing and debugging electronics
  • Competence in soldering, including small wires and electronic components
  • Ability to assemble prototype electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong documentation skills
  • A structured approach to problem-solving and data recording
  • Based in London and able to work in the office 5 days a week

Nice to have: PCB rework/surface mount experience, Linux command line, scripting/automation, MCAD/ECAD tools.
