Role Objective
Deliver a holistic financial planning service to prospective and existing clients, providing personalised solutions designed to deliver their financial objectives and to drive new business from existing clients and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Discovery & Financial Planning
- Conduct comprehensive fact-finding to assess clients’ personal and financial circumstances, financial knowledge, experience, attitude to risk, and capacity for loss.
- Establish and regularly review clients’ risk profiles and financial objectives, ensuring they are specific, measurable, and aligned with their needs and aspirations.
- Evaluate the suitability of existing financial arrangements and recommend tailored financial planning solutions based on thorough product and market research.
- Clearly articulate the rationale, benefits, risks, and potential drawbacks of all recommendations, ensuring suitability and transparency.
- Drafting simple suitability reports from existing templates where applicable.
- Client Relationship Management
- Deliver high-quality client service throughout the onboarding process and beyond, working closely with internal teams to ensure a seamless experience.
- Conduct regular client reviews in line with the firm’s Client Service Policy, maintaining strong, long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for additional support or services.
- Complete compliant annual reviews with existing fee-paying clients via video or telephone, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate documentation.
- Business Development & Performance
- Meet agreed annual targets for new business income and service-related KPIs.
- Proactively generate and convert new business opportunities, including prospecting and following up with potential clients in line with the firm’s business plan.
- Promote the firm’s central investment proposition and migrate clients where appropriate.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with paraplanners, administrators, compliance teams, and investment managers to ensure holistic, compliant, and efficient advice delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, recommendations, and supporting documentation, ensuring a professional and client-centric approach at all times.
- Regulatory Compliance & Professional Standards
- Ensure full compliance with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, FCA Conduct Rules, Statements of Principle, and all other relevant FCA regulations.
- Keep up to date with changes in regulation, tax legislation, and market trends to ensure advice remains compliant and relevant.
- Maintain a valid Statement of Professional Standing (SPS) and commit to ongoing professional development.
- File & Data Management
- Maintain client files in a compliant and auditable state, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation.
- Adhere to the firm’s data protection, data security, and record-keeping policies, ensuring all client records are securely stored and retained in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Person Specification
- Qualifications
- Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (ideally working towards Chartered).
- Competent Adviser Status (CAS) and current SPS.
- Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrate understanding in all areas of financial advice including: Investments, Pensions, Personal Tax, Estate Planning and Protection; Mortgages and Equity Release where applicable.
- Ensure your Continuing Professional Development is up to date at all times and you meet the CII/IFS minimum CPD annual requirements. Attend compliance and regulatory based workshops, training sessions and completion of CII modules.
- Demonstrate competency in using industry tools to support financial planning such as cash flow modelling software.
- Ensure full awareness and understanding of all internal processes and manage these effectively, working with all the support teams to deliver an exceptional service to clients at all times.
- Previous experience of delivering advice via video meetings and over the telephone.
- Previous use of Intelligent Officer is desirable but not required.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
