We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Carpenter to join our close-knit team at Statham Custom Cabins. This is a unique opportunity to learn the art of bespoke timber construction, working alongside experienced craftsmen to create custom cabins and garden buildings that are as individual as our clients.

Wage: £15,392 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm, attend college for training. 37 hours a week.

Start Date: Tuesday 1 September 2026

Duration: 2 years

What you'll do at work:

  • Assist with the construction and installation of bespoke timber cabins and garden rooms, both on-site and in our workshop.
  • Accurately measure, mark, cut, and prepare timber components according to project specifications.
  • Support the fitting and assembly of structural frames, panels, doors, windows, and interior features.
  • Help with finishing work, including sanding, treating, and ensuring high-quality finishes on all timber surfaces.
  • Participate in the repair and refurbishment of existing structures as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain tidy, safe work areas, ensuring all tools and materials are stored correctly.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team.

Where you'll work: Statham Custom Cabins Ltd, Unit 16 Five Valleys Shopping Centre, King Street, Stroud, GL5 1RR.

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Training provider: SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE AND STROUD COLLEGE.

Requirements:

  • GCSE in Maths and English (grade 3-9*).
  • Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements: We work in different locations for around 6-8 weeks at a time across Gloucestershire, so you need to be able to commute to the job site. Having a driving licence and your own vehicle would be ideal.
