Location: Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees (TS23 initially, progressing to TS7).

Salary: £38,000 rising to £50,000 upon successful Ofsted registration.

Working Hours: Mix of shifts, 9:00am–5:00pm, and weekend working. Sleep-ins: Not required as standard; flexibility expected for cover if needed. On-Call: Required following successful induction.

Service: Children’s Residential Home (Learning Disabilities). Home Size: 2-bed provision.

Qualifications Required: Level 3 Residential Childcare (Level 5 desirable or willingness to work toward). Employment Type: Permanent.

Who we are looking for: We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager or aspiring Registered Manager who is looking to step into a progressive role with clear development into registration. This is a strong opportunity for someone confident in leadership, capable of deputising in a Manager’s absence, and motivated to be part of setting up a new service.

The successful candidate will initially be based within an established 2‑bed home, supporting the day‑to‑day running and deputising for a dual‑registered Manager. They will play a key role in maintaining standards, supporting staff, and ensuring consistent, high‑quality care delivery. They will then transition into leading their own 2‑bed learning disability home following Ofsted registration, with full support throughout the process.

The role will involve:

  • Deputising significantly in the Manager’s absence across a dual‑registered setup
  • Supporting day‑to‑day operations, staff supervision, and care delivery
  • Contributing to the set‑up and mobilisation of a new children’s home
  • Working collaboratively with the Responsible Individual and Operations Director
  • Supporting Ofsted registration (SC1), with most documentation already prepared
  • Participating in a mix of shifts, including office hours and weekends
  • Providing operational cover where required, including occasional sleep‑ins
