Residential Practitioner – Children's Home
Locations: Pontefract (WF11) or Halifax
Salary: £26,000 to £30,000 per annum + sleep-in payments
Hours: Average 48 hours per week (including sleep-ins)
Sleep-ins: 2 per week
Service: Residential Children's Home
Supporting: Children and young people aged 7–17 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Mild Learning Difficulties

What You'll Be Doing
- Providing day‑to‑day care and emotional support
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Supporting education, activities and life skills
- Promoting positive behaviour using therapeutic approaches
- Completing daily records and safeguarding documentation
- Working closely with families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes
Pay & Working Pattern
- Salary: £26,000 per annum (excluding sleep-in payments)
- 48‑hour average working week
- 2 sleep-ins per week

What You'll Need
Essential
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Level 3 Children & Young People's Workforce Diploma (Social Care pathway)
A Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care may be considered where substantial experience supporting children and young people can be demonstrated.
- Full UK driving licence
- Ideally aged 22 or over (due to the nature of the role and insurance requirements)
- Previous experience working with children and young people, ideally within residential childcare or a similar setting supporting children with challenging behaviours
