Job Description

  • Job Title: Valve Technician
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am- 4:30pm, 40 hours per week
  • Job Location: Immingham

As a Valve Technician, you will play a key role in the inspection, repair, maintenance, testing, and certification of a wide range of valves, actuators, and associated pressure systems. Working both from our Immingham workshop and at customer sites across the UK, you'll support clients in ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of critical equipment.

This role offers exposure to a diverse range of industries including oil & gas, fuel storage and distribution, food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, waste and recycling, steelworks, chemical processing, power generation, and other industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, overhaul, and certify valves, actuators, and associated equipment.
  • Carry out repairs, fault-finding, testing, and calibration activities to ensure equipment meets relevant standards and customer requirements.
  • Work on a variety of equipment including pressure relief valves, safety valves, control valves, isolation valves, regulating valves, pumps, and associated pressure systems.
  • Deliver high-quality work both in the workshop and on customer sites.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers, and colleagues to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, testing, and certification records in line with company procedures.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and quality requirements while representing SGS professionally at customer locations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working with valves, pipework, pressure systems, pumps, rotating equipment, mechanical maintenance, or related industrial equipment.

We welcome applications from candidates who have gained experience in sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemical, fuel storage, manufacturing, food production, pharmaceuticals, utilities, steelworks, marine, power generation, or other heavy industrial environments.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in valve overhaul, repair, testing, certification, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of pressure systems, pipework, pumps, actuators, or associated mechanical equipment.
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship or relevant practical engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A flexible approach to working both in a workshop and field-based environment (80% site based)
  • A valid UK driving licence.
