Overview of the Role:

This role supports chemical testing operations on site, ensuring accurate sample preparation, efficient testing processes, and timely reporting of results. You will play a key part in maintaining high-quality standards, meeting customer expectations, and supporting the wider laboratory team to deliver operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all chemical testing activities, including sample preparation (breaking down samples, digestion, equipment cleaning)
  • Operate and run laboratory testing instruments for analysis (e.g., metals testing and compliance testing)
  • Monitor and report daily testing status to ensure visibility of workflow and timely communication with stakeholders
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding orders and resolve issues in the preparation stage
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support UKAS accreditation and quality standards

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has experience in a laboratory environment, with a strong understanding of chemical testing processes and quality standards. You will be confident working to procedures, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to a high-performing team environment. You will also have the following:

  • Experience working within an experimental or analytical laboratory
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general IT systems
  • Experience using analytical instruments
  • Understanding of quality systems and accreditation standards (e.g., UKAS)
  • Strong chemistry knowledge, ideally within consumer product testing
  • Relevant chemistry qualification
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
