Job Description

  • Job Title: Molecular Biology QC Analyst (Sanger Sequencing)
  • Job Type: Full time
  • Hours: 35hrs per week, Monday- Friday
  • Job Location: Glasgow
  • Salary: From £25,000 depending on level of experience

SGS Glasgow is the Global Centre for Excellence for Biosafety testing. We are experts in the testing of cell banks and the routine bulk harvests for vaccines, gene and cell therapies, monoclonal antibodies and other recombinant protein-based biological medicines.
The site adheres to both Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) providing vaccine and biologics manufacturers with access to high-quality batch-testing of their products. Fulfilling that legal requirement is a key step in bringing those products to market, and provide specialised services to the biologics, drug development, and cell and gene therapy industries.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Molecular QC analyst with a proven track record in Sanger sequencing to join our team responsible for providing this service to clients to ensure the safety of their products.
Responsibilities

  • Perform Sanger sequencing to a high technical standard and in compliance.
  • Analyse and interpret complex data, delivering a high technical standard while meeting the regulatory requirements of GLP and GMP tests.
  • Document deviations and work with the team to conduct investigations and out of specifications, ensuring that root cause and contributory factors are defined and appropriate corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) are identified and completed on time.
  • Work positively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to deliver on site key performance indicators.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in performing Sanger sequencing in a regulatory environment. Consideration will also be given to candidates with no regulatory experience but with sufficient technical knowledge and experience in Sanger sequencing.
Applicants should hold a degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field and must be proficient in performing various molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to nucleic acid extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR/qPCR, and Sanger Sequencing.
In addition, candidates must exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and possess superb communication abilities, both in writing and speaking. Attention to detail is also key to this job role and the ideal candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
