Job Description

Job Title: Offshore Chemist (Casual)

Location: Offshore – Aberdeen
Salary: Competitive offshore rates

Are you ready to bring your expertise to the offshore environment? We’re looking for a Casual Offshore Chemist to join our team on an as‑needed basis in Aberdeen. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the highest standards of laboratory operations, delivering accurate sampling and analysis, and supporting smooth platform performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform sampling and analysis in line with international standards and documented procedures.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain exceptional analytical performance.
  • Represent SGS on client sites, ensuring compliance with all test methods, procedures, and QHSE requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment, methods, or samples, liaising with onshore support to maintain continuity of service.
  • Maintain adequate stock of consumables and ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and safe for use.
  • Complete routine sampling, analysis, and reporting as per client procedures.

  • Ability to work independently in an offshore environment.

Qualifications

How to be a successful candidate

  • HNC level in chemistry or related science based subject, or equivalent.
  • Off‑shore medical certificate.
  • Off‑shore survival certificate.
  • MIST On line Training
  • SBT01
  • Oil in Water
  • H2S Sampling Experience – Use of half mask and full BA mask
  • Oil in Sand
