Our Client are looking for a Water Metering Technician for a 6 months contract in Dereham and surrounding area. 37 Hours per week. Flexi hours between the working window of 6:30 to 20:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays. Full training given.

We are looking for customer focused individuals who are based within 30 minutes ideally of Dereham and surrounding villages, to ensure the needs of our customers are met. You will be representing one of the leading water providers in the UK, so a professional image is very important; we will provide you with uniform and a van.

The role can be physically demanding as you will walk in the region of 3 to 8 miles per day. You will also use a handheld computer to carry out your work. The hours are flexible between the working window of 6:30 to 20:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays, which includes early morning starts and late evenings until 8pm as this is when our customers are most likely to be at home.

The Metering Technician will act as the customer’s champion, ensuring that all customer driven meter reading queries, planned meter readings and boundary box meter exchanges are undertaken within levels of service ensuring both customer service and quality levels are maintained. They will ensure that any reactive work is correctly identified and reported to allow for completion within levels of service. They will ensure that all billing information amendments are correctly reported to improve customer service.

The Metering Technician will complete meter reading related operations by ensuring all meters are read accurately, maintain accurate records and ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. Identify and report any maintenance jobs, meter exchanges and potential leaks efficiently and liaise with the customer as appropriate.

The Metering Technician will complete non-routine reading and income related operations such as conducting flow tests to confirm correct supply connections, replace lids, complete void inspections and confirm correct plots to postal addresses.

The Metering Technician will complete meter exchange operations in an efficient and cost effective manner, being aware of any impact to the customer, escalating any incidents that may compromise the water network and ensure all work completed on the network meets the necessary regulations. Ensure new and old meters are tracked and sufficient stocks are held.
