We are seeking a Trainee to join our Global Markets Engineering team. The team drives engineering activities across market activities covering all financial products. Our expertise is highly successful and globally recognized.

Our five main centres of expertise ensure that we remain at the forefront of innovation:

  • Central Advisory Group: Properly understands financial institutions’ practices and concerns.
  • Pricing & Development Group: Sits within each business line and is centrally managed to create innovative solutions and investment strategies.
  • Flow Strategy & Solutions Group: Influences the market and generates efficient trade ideas.
  • Central Cross Structuring Group: Builds the most efficient issuance and execution framework for our clients.
  • Central Product Marketing team: Explains and broadcasts product expertise.

The Flow Strategy and Solutions team is a global team of financial engineers focused on the generation of differentiated trade ideas, unique implementations and hedging solutions across asset classes for hedge funds, global macros, asset managers and institutions.

Summary of the key purposes of the role:

  • Producing Content: Working in conjunction with Trading, Pricing, Quantitative Investment Strategies and Sales to push trade ideas that may appear attractive from both a macro and/or volatility arbitrage standpoint.
  • Marketing: Client interactions via meetings, roadshows and conferences, in collaboration with Sales, Trading, and Research teams.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Product responsibilities:
  • Producing, updating and maintaining screeners which provide information on various market parameters used for trade idea generation.
  • Providing clear macroeconomic rationale to assist with trade idea generation.
  • Developing innovative and value-added approaches for collecting and analysing data.
  • Building and maintaining financial models and scripts, which are used for forecasting, back testing and optimisation of trade ideas.
  • Assisting with client requests.
  • Reviewing data provided by Research teams.
  • Marketing responsibilities:
    • Communicating the team’s published ideas to internal and external clients, through calls, meetings, conferences and the production of marketing material.
    • Prepare and publish documents based on research and analysis work.
    • Planning, hosting and taking minutes at meetings with internal stakeholders within the Equity Research and Sales divisions.
    • Ensuring that all available feedback is captured.

    Profile required:

    • The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in an Economics / Finance related subject.
    • Demonstrable interest in and understanding of financial markets and derivatives.
    • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
    • High level of proficiency in Python, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentational skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative as appropriate.
    • Ability to share ideas and propose solutions to problems.
