About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead our engineering and industrial services operations based in Immingham. This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing personnel, ensuring high-quality service delivery, driving profitability, and developing new business opportunities. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in growing our operations, while ensuring full compliance with industry and client standards, and SGS internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage teams to deliver operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure resource deployment meets client specifications and complies with industry best practices.
  • Drive cost-effective service delivery to meet or exceed revenue and margin targets.
  • Manage location P&L, working capital, and contribute to business growth and staff development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Identify new business opportunities while sustaining existing accounts.
  • Liaise across departments to support timely reporting and billing of services.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, coaching, and operational ownership.
  • Act as the lead contact for audits, ensuring effective follow-up and closure of actions.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven experience in client management and service delivery.
  • Business development acumen and understanding of current/future strategic service offerings.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and cost control.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and business planning tools.
  • Able to adapt to a dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of contract and employment law.
  • Previous experience in account management, sales, or project management.

Experience Required

  • Proven track record in operational team management and leadership roles.
  • Managing budgets to meet commercial objectives.
  • Experience in business development and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Background in project management and commercial negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Degree or technical qualifications in Engineering, Science or Business related subject.
  • Full, current, valid UK driving licence.
  • Formal audit, supervisory or management qualification.
  • IFIA certification.
