Description of the Business Line or Department
The Power, Utilities & Infrastructure team is part of the Investment Banking franchise of Société Générale and covers the sector on a global basis.
The sector’s coverage includes Conventional and Renewable Power Generation, Waste, Energy Infrastructure, and Transportation Infrastructure.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
· The position will be based in London within the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure M&A team
· This is an ideal opportunity for the Trainee to be involved in a rapidly changing industry landscape in Europe
· The position will allow the Trainee to receive a very well-rounded perspective of the development of Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sectors
· The Trainee will join an award-winning team in a friendly, inclusive and hard-working environment
· This is an excellent opportunity to join a diverse and successful team covering multiple Power, Utilities & Infrastructure subsectors and geographies, and to be involved in M&A execution as well as origination of new transactions
Summary of responsibilities
· Assisting with the origination and execution of M&A transactions across the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sectors
· Involvement in industry and company research, quantitative analysis, company valuation analysis and financial modelling
· Assisting with the preparation of presentations for clients and potential investors
Profile requiredCompetencies
• University degree or equivalent in Finance or Finance-related discipline is advantageous
• Prior work experience such as an internship or similar in the financial sector – Investment Banking in particular – is advantageous
• A genuine interest in the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sectors
• A good level of financial modelling and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• A good level of written and spoken English essential; additional languages advantageous
• Good communication skills
• A high level of motivation and enthusiasm
• Good multitasking abilities
• Ability to work pro-actively and take initiative
