Responsibilities

  • Loan Sales main three functions are distributing primary loans across all areas of Global Banking origination activity, supporting portfolio management exercises through selling and buying assets to and from market counterparts, and supporting the loan trading business.
  • The team covers a wide range of bank and institutional accounts and is fully connected across its global platform principally based in London, Hong Kong, New York and Tokyo.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • Supporting senior loan sales personnel across all parts of their activities – this includes daily monitoring of the activity, preparing product presentation, ensuring KYC and trading limits are in place for secondary activities, backing up colleagues as necessary on all parts of their primary market deals during distribution phase and liaising with internal colleagues for on-going reporting purposes.
  • Working with the Support Front Officer in managing overall KYC workload.
  • Assisting team management in reporting & business analysis requirements.

Summary of responsibilities

  • Learning the fundamentals of financial products and markets, largely from senior colleagues but also through attending relevant training events.
  • Becoming familiar with all the main markets in which the Group operates in the loan space.
  • Supporting senior colleagues in their daily activities which may range from liaising with investors on primary deals to providing overviews and research on deals arranged by third parties with whom the Group is looking to trade.
  • Producing summary documents using market specific tools.
  • Supporting various internal entities in the team’s PnL monitoring and recording on a global basis.
  • Correctly tracking closing of all primary deals and secondary trades and ensuring that correct sales information is reflected.
  • Building good working relationships with colleagues in front, middle and back-office functions.
  • Assisting with the arrangement of Lender meetings for primary deals and other investor meetings.

Profile required

  • Ideally a Finance, Economics or similar STEM degree.
  • Good basic knowledge of financial products.
  • Previous internships within an investment bank would be preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Essential behaviours we look for include flexibility – able to adapt to ad hoc situations and requests, ability to work under pressure, initiative, teamwork, resilience and good multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Fluent written and spoken English essential – French advantageous.
