We're looking for a highly analytical and technically-minded Trainee to join our Emerging Markets Credit Trading team in London. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate with strong quantitative skills and an interest in financial markets to gain hands-on experience on a fast-paced trading desk, working alongside experienced traders and sales professionals. What you'll be doing

As part of the team, you'll play an active role in supporting trading activity while contributing to the development of the desk's analytical and pricing capabilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting traders in managing day-to-day trading activity
  • Analysing market, pricing, and performance data to generate actionable insights
  • Assisting with the pricing and analysis of Emerging Markets credit products
  • Developing and enhancing tools used for valuation, risk management, and trade analysis
  • Using Python and VBA to automate processes, improve reporting, and support decision-making
  • Working with large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Monitoring financial markets and preparing reports on trading performance
  • Working closely with sales, operations, and other teams across the business
  • Helping track client activity and identify new business opportunities

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or another highly quantitative discipline
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and manipulate complex data
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Strong VBA and Excel skills, including experience building models, automation tools, or reporting solutions
  • Demonstrable interest in programming, quantitative analysis, or financial technology
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure

Desirable

  • Interest in financial markets, trading, or fixed income products
  • Experience working with financial or market data
  • Knowledge of SQL, data visualisation tools, or other programming languages
  • Previous internship or project experience involving data analysis, modelling, or automation
