Salary Options:

  • Option 1 – Shift-Based Deputy Manager: £16.32 per hour + enhanced weekend pay (time + 1/3) + £70 per sleep-in
  • Option 2 – Off-Shift Deputy Manager: Lower base salary (sleep-ins not typically included, standard office-based/off-shift hours)

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join their specialist 3-bed children’s residential home in Pudsey. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior, Team Leader, or existing Deputy Manager with a strong background in children’s residential care, particularly supporting young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), autism, or complex mental health needs.

There are two Deputy Manager pathways available, offering flexibility depending on your preferred working style:

  • Shift-Based Deputy Manager: Ideal for those who enjoy operational leadership on shift, directly supporting young people and leading the team in practice.
  • Off-Shift Deputy Manager: A more structured management-focused role, typically office-based / operational leadership support, with reduced requirement for direct shift cover and sleep-ins.

The Home

This is a 3-bed Ofsted-rated Good children’s home supporting young people with significant and complex mental health needs. The provider specialises in therapeutic residential care for young people who may be unsuitable for inpatient hospital settings, are experiencing repeated admissions, or require specialist community-based support as an alternative to hospital provision. The organisation operates specialist services supported by an in-house multi-disciplinary mental health team, delivering highly individualised care packages.

Key Responsibilities

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day leadership of the home and take operational responsibility in their absence. You will be expected to have strong knowledge and practical experience in:

  • Care Planning
  • Case Management
  • Staff Supervisions
  • Actioning Regulation 44 Reports
  • Risk Assessments (impact risk assessment experience desirable)
  • Education Planning
  • Working alongside Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs)
  • Acting as Key Worker for young people
  • Understanding Children’s Home legislation including the 9 Quality Standards, SCCIF, Regulation 40, and Regulation 45

You will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, compliance, and positive outcomes for young people.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an Ofsted Registered Children’s Residential Home
  • Ideally experience supporting young people with EBD, autism, or complex mental health needs
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Strong leadership capability with experience supporting or supervising teams
  • Confident managing compliance, care planning, and operational standards
