Lakes College is a dynamic further education college serving the far west of Cumbria, with a diverse catchment of approximately 180,000 people. Operating across a large and distinctive rural region, the College plays a vital role in widening participation and improving life chances, supporting communities that include some of the most deprived in the country alongside more affluent areas. Finance and Audit Governor

A qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with strong financial acumen and experience within complex organisations. Candidates may be operating at middle or senior management level. The role may involve membership of the Finance and Corporate Working Group or Chair of Audit, with opportunities to progress into a committee chair role. Prior board experience is welcome but not essential.

IAG / Youth Champion Governor

A governor with a strong commitment to supporting young people and improving attendance, retention and learner outcomes. Suitable backgrounds may include youth work, education, mentoring or community leadership. This role aligns closely with the Quality Working Group and requires a clear commitment to equality, inclusion and tackling barriers to participation.

Business Development Governor

A governor with experience of business development, employer engagement or regional networks. This role will support strategic growth, apprenticeship delivery and long term financial resilience, acting as a sounding board on employer relationships and oversight of key contracts, including the Sellafield apprenticeship programme.
