The Board of Governors plays a central role in providing strategic leadership, oversight and challenge, working in close partnership with the Senior Management Team. With several upcoming vacancies, Walsall College now seeks to appoint four skilled governors to strengthen Board capacity and address key skills needs as the College progresses through its next phase of development.

  • Governor: HR (People and Remuneration Committee) - A senior HR professional with experience leading people strategies in large, regulated organisations. The successful candidate will bring expertise in workforce planning, organisational development, policy and reward, supporting the College’s commitment to staff engagement, wellbeing and talent development.
  • Governor: Environmental Sustainability (Resources Committee) - A governor with strong experience in sustainability, green technologies or Net Zero initiatives, including strategy development, governance and capital delivery. Experience of funding, procurement and value-for-money assurance will be particularly valuable as the College advances its long-term estates and sustainability ambitions.
  • Governor: Artificial Intelligence / Digital Innovation (Resources Committee) - An individual with senior-level experience applying AI or advanced digital solutions within complex organisations. This role will support strategic thinking around ethical, secure and effective use of AI to enhance curriculum delivery, learner experience and operational efficiency.
  • Governor: Educationalist – FE or Secondary (Learning and Quality Committee) - A senior leader with a strong background in further education or secondary education, bringing expertise in curriculum, quality and learner outcomes. Insight into learner progression, transition and regional context will support the Board’s oversight of teaching, learning and performance.

Walsall College values diversity of thought, inclusive leadership and constructive challenge. Prior governance experience is welcome but not essential.
