Cardrew Court School is a Special School that caters for 64 students aged 5-16. It provides education and care for pupils with SEMH needs presenting as high-level anxiety and school refusal. Their learners' accreditation pathways are varied, with some learners following a GCSE pathway, others a mix of GCSE, BTEC, Entry-level and Functional Skills. Some learners focus on a Preparing for Adulthood pathway where they have a greater focus on personal development, including increasing their independence skills.

What does the role include? School governors offer key strategic guidance, rather than getting involved in the operational aspects of a school. This involves working with other board members to plan the school’s strategic direction, overseeing the school’s financial performance to ensure money is well-spent, and holding the headteacher or school leadership to account. As a school governor, you’ll work closely with the school’s leadership team, providing challenge and support to help drive improvement.
