About Moulton College: Moulton College is a dynamic, land‐based specialist college in Northamptonshire. It is the only provider of further education within a 40‐mile radius and supports over 3,200 learners across 16–19 year‐olds, adult learners, higher education students and apprentices. With more than 100 buildings, a large connected farm and an annual turnover of £30 million, Moulton is rated 'Good' by Ofsted and is focused on sustainability, green technologies and practical skills development.

Role: Chair of the Corporation. The Chair will lead the Board through a pivotal period of strategic growth and transformation. This high‐impact governance role requires a seasoned non‐executive with strategic leadership, financial literacy and a passion for further education.

Responsibilities:
  • Shape and oversee the College's strategic vision and 2030 Strategic Plan.
  • Lead a revitalised, forward‐thinking Board, providing robust challenge and support to the Principal and Head of Governance.
  • Chair the Search & Governance Committee and sit on the Curriculum, Quality & Standards and Finance & Resources Committees.
  • Drive board development, succession planning and an inclusive governance culture.
  • Ensure accountability through clear KPIs and strategic leadership focused on student experience.
  • Manage the annual governance calendar, including full corporation meetings, committee sessions and strategic development sessions.
Commitment & Governance Calendar:
  • Governors commit around two days a month, preparing for meetings, participating in committees and engaging with the College community. The Chair is expected to be on‐site at least once a month for visible leadership.
  • Five full corporation meetings, in person.
  • Regular Finance & Resources Committee meetings, mostly online in the early evening.
  • Curriculum & Quality, Audit and HE Sub‐Committee meetings, typically in late afternoons.
  • Bi‐annual Search & Governance and Remuneration Committee meetings.
  • Two Governor Development Sessions per year.
  • Three strategic development sessions, in person, for 2025/26.
  • Annual Strategic Transformation Group Stakeholder meetings, termly.
Qualifications / Experience:
  • Experience chairing boards or committees, preferably in regulated sectors such as NHS or local government.
  • Strong financial literacy and strategic leadership record.
  • Passion for further education, vocational skills and land‐based industries.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, infrastructure or estates is highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with the East Midlands further education landscape is an advantage.
