  • Inspecting SGN sites, both direct labour and contractor, ensuring that all Road Works are carried out in a safe manner and that sites comply with the "Safety at Road and Street Works - A Code of Practice" (Red Book).
  • Ensuring compliance with the Specification of Reinstatements of Opening in Roads (SROR) of all reinstatements in both public and private areas throughout Scotland.
  • Auditing reinstatements by means of non-destructive compaction tests (cleggs), visual inspections and core sampling.
  • Recording all inspection results using Microsoft Excel and evidencing inspections with suitable SGN data capture Apps (FYLD, Velocity and Image Capture).
  • Recording and reporting failed or dangerous sites real time to the relevant team managers, allowing them to act on and remedy any defects or unsafe sites.

  • A self-driven individual who can manage their own day to day workload, plan routes, use their own initiative and work as part of a team.
  • Problem solving and influencing skills - encouraging colleagues to challenge established ways of working.
  • Adopt and demonstrate SGN’s safety culture in everyday working.
  • To be comfortable working roadside and on live sites.
  • A willingness to learn and develop through training and shadowing.
  • Full Driving License.
