As an Engineering Policy Manager, you will be responsible for setting and monitoring technical policies and standards across SGN’s gas distribution business. This role includes:

  • ensuring technical policies, procedures and specifications remain fit for purpose;
  • reviewing and implementing best practice and suggestions for business improvement;
  • approval of new products for use on the gas network;
  • coordination of field trials;
  • participating in and influencing relevant industry forums.

  • Using engineering judgement to assess technical options
  • Creating and updating specifications and procedures
  • Understanding the impact of policy change on different roles and departments
  • Creating effective communication and implementation plans for policy changes
  • Ensuring human factors and other appropriate risk impacts are considered
  • Looking to the future to ensure our policies support SGN's strategic goals

What you’ll need:

  • Asset or operational management knowledge and experience of Gas Transmission & Plant
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to interpret technical requirements and communicate them so they can be understood and implemented by others.
  • Incorporated or chartered Engineer, or willing to work towards this.
  • Able to carry out impact and risk assessments.
