We are looking for an E&I Technician. Our Green Gas Solutions team plays a vital role in the safe maintenance and operation of biomethane plants in the southern area. The successful individual will be undertaking electrical isolations of equipment and overseeing maintenance, fault finding, and minor project works of a more complex nature on biomethane assets on behalf of SGN Commercial Services.
SGN Commercial Services are a sole ownership subsidiary of SGN who own and operate several biomethane gas clean up plants and associated network entry facilities. We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses across the community. Whether you're supporting from the office or working on the front line, every role plays a part.
As an E&I Technician in the Green Gas team you will be primarily responsible for the safe and reliable operation of SGN Commercial Services portfolio of biomethane process plants within the southern geographic area. The role will require close cooperation and communication with our commercial customers and other key stakeholders including Gas Distribution Network representatives, our key contractors and suppliers, internal departments as well our biomethane team.
This role works across a large geographical area, and you will be working as part of a team as well as on your own, depending on the work you are doing. You will be expected to participate in a standby rota to deliver a 24/7 out-of-hours emergency support service. A full valid driving license is essential.
ESSENTIAL
- You will be a highly motivated individual with a sound understanding of the E&I engineering discipline that operates across the Maintenance team.
- NVQ level 3 (or above), having completed a recognised apprenticeship in electrical / electronic / Instrumentation engineering or equivalent is required (minimum of 2 years’ experience).
- IT literacy and a responsible approach to Health and Safety.
- You will be able to operate safely and effectively in a planned methodical way or, when necessary, positively in a reactive way.
- You will have a strong commercial and performance mind-set, with a track record of using innovative solutions to deliver efficiency, value for money and quality for the business.
- You will have excellent communication and customer service skills and will consistently demonstrate our core behaviours.
- You will be motivated individual with ability to prioritise workload to meet operational and customer workload demands.
- You will be flexible and willing to travel throughout the UK.
- You will be a great team player, can effectively manage projects, supervise contractors and lead teams where necessary.
- Willingness to travel. The role will include travel to several sites in Southern, including Dorchester, Sheppey, Ramsgate, Reading, North London. There will be a requirement to spend several days carrying out maintenance at our biomethane plants in Yorkshire (Sheffield, Leeds) as well as Scotland.
DESIRABLE
- Understand biogas production processes and biomethane upgrading and knowledge of key equipment.
- Experience of working in hazardous areas.
- CompEx 01 to 04 qualification.
