We currently have an exciting role for an E&I Asset Engineer to assist with management of E&I Assets and systems at SGN Gas Sites throughout the Southern and Scotland Networks, ensuring that key electrical, instrumentation, control systems and processes operate effectively, safely, and comply with industry standards, guidance and best practices. Primarily focusing on electrical asset engineering.

You will be working closely with colleagues across several key functions/departments throughout the business, including maintenance, projects, asset management, physical security and IT security teams. Additionally you will be required to engage with external stakeholders such as Ofgem and the HSE.

What you will do

  • The E&I Asset Engineer will assist with managing electrical safety and electrical assets and systems at gas sites throughout the Southern and Scotland networks, providing technical oversight, developing and implementing engineering strategies, and critical decision making surrounding electrical assets.
  • The overall purpose of this job is to monitor performance of the Electrical assets and deliver a safe, reliable and compliant network.
  • There will be a requirement to build and present business plans for asset lifecycle management and compliance, oversee SGN’s management of change processes, assist capex approvals and coordination with all stakeholders to ensure project delivery is compliant and within budgets awarded.

What you will need

  • Electrical engineering background
  • Hazardous Area (DSEAR) and ATEX Directives.
  • IET Wiring Regulations (BS:7671)
  • Ability to be able to produce new specifications and maintenance requirements for electrical systems to maintain the asset life, reduce faults and maintain compliance with British and industry standards.
  • HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship and experience gained working in an electrical or instrumentation role.
  • We are looking for a performance oriented and self-motivated individual, able to control and prioritise as required budgets, resources and tasks. They must be able to balance conflicting priorities and challenging timescales and able to work with people at all levels.
  • A full driving licence and willing to travel within the UK on a regular basis working in both office and field environments is essential.
