[What you will be working on]
What you will be working on:
1. Developing Technical Capabilities for Site Hazard Research
- Methodology Development: Contribute to the development of technical frameworks for studying site suitability and resilience, including geological, geophysical, geotechnical, and seismological (GGGS) research.
- Hazard Analysis Research: Assist in developing analytical models to study external natural and human-induced hazards to understand long-term infrastructure resilience.
- Environmental Impact Studies: Conduct research into radiological, biodiversity, and environmental impact assessment methodologies to establish high-level safety and ecological benchmarks.
2. Developing capabilities for relevant IAEA Infrastructure Areas
- Build and apply deep institutional expertise across the IAEA Milestones approach, specifically assessing siting and operational implications for:
- Safety & Security: Nuclear Safety, Security, Safeguards, and Radiation Protection.
- Lifecycle Management: Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Radioactive Waste Management.
- Crisis Readiness: Comprehensive Emergency Planning and Preparedness.
3. Infrastructure & Urban Integration Planning
- Systems Integration Research: Collaborate with relevant agencies to study the physical requirements for integrating advanced nuclear energy facilities into urban environments, including cooling water systems and grid connectivity.
- Spatial Constraint Mapping: Develop models to understand land-use trade-offs for various technology classes.
