SGC are seeking dedicated and vigilant Security Officers to join our team in Hardham, working on a permanent basis (48 Hours per Week). This role plays a vital part in protecting a critical water industry site, ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and essential infrastructure. The role is primarily outdoors in remote locations, overseeing the protection of water reservoirs and conducting regular patrols over varying terrain, including distances of over 10 km per shift.

You will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment, deterring criminal activity, and preventing unauthorised access. Your duties will include:

  • Monitoring and controlling access to ensure only authorised personnel enter the site.
  • Conducting regular foot patrols across challenging terrain (10 km+ per shift).
  • Responding promptly and effectively to incidents and emergencies.
  • Operating and monitoring security systems and access control software.
  • Maintaining high levels of situational awareness and assessing on-site risks.
  • De-escalating confrontational situations with professionalism.
  • Liaising with management, emergency services, and stakeholders during escalated incidents.
  • Ensuring compliance with all security and safety protocols.
  • Engaging with members of the public courteously and professionally.

Qualifications

  • Valid SIA Licence (DS)
  • First Aid Certification
  • Clear criminal background check
  • Previous security experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Experience with access control and patrolling systems
  • Basic computer literacy for logging reports and using security systems

To support your development and ensure compliance with water industry standards, we provide fully funded EUSR Water Hygiene (Blue Card) training as part of your onboarding. This essential qualification will be paid for by the company. Pay rate: £12.71 per hour PAYE.
