We are working with a high-growth, VC-backed business to recruit a Financial Controller at a pivotal stage in its scale-up journey. Operating within a technology-enabled, service-led environment, the business has established strong early traction, growing revenues and a differentiated offering within its market. Following recent investment, the company is now entering a significant growth phase with a clear focus on scaling operations and strengthening infrastructure. This role sits at the heart of that journey, taking full ownership of the finance function and acting as a key partner to the CEO and leadership team. It offers a blend of hands-on responsibility and strategic influence, with direct input into financial planning, operational decision-making and future growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Finance & Business Partnering – Act as the primary finance partner to the CEO and leadership team. Support financial planning and strategic decision-making. Provide commercial insight on performance, pricing and growth initiatives.
  • Financial Operations & Control – Own and manage day-to-day finance operations, including month-end close and core processes. Develop and implement robust financial controls, policies and procedures. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Reporting & Insight – Deliver board-level reporting with clear insight and commentary. Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts. Support statutory reporting requirements and external advisors.
  • Cashflow & Forecasting – Build and maintain cashflow forecasts and liquidity planning. Provide forward-looking insight to support decision-making.
  • Compliance & Process Improvement – Ensure compliance with relevant tax and regulatory requirements. Drive improvements in systems, processes and reporting capability.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience in a high-growth, scaling or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Comfortable operating in a standalone or small-team finance role.
  • Experience delivering board-level reporting and working with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Proactive, hands-on and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
