SFR Recruitment Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a growing professional services, construction and maintenance business delivering a broad range of projects across the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Typical project values range from £200,000 to £5,000,000, covering planned maintenance, refurbishment, reactive works and medium construction packages.
Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint an experienced, commercially minded Scoping Estimator to identify, survey, scope and price works across a varied portfolio of projects and maintenance contracts. The role combines regular site visits with office-based estimating, requiring a practical understanding of construction methods, maintenance works and Schedule of Rates (SOR) pricing.

Key Responsibilities
- Attend site visits to inspect, assess and fully scope required works
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for construction and maintenance projects
- Produce quotations covering labour, materials, subcontractors and plant
- Interpret drawings, specifications and client requirements
- Prepare estimates using Schedule of Rates (SOR) contracts and pricing mechanisms
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal delivery teams
- Identify risks, variations and value engineering opportunities
- Assist with tender submissions and pricing documentation
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases
- Support operational teams during project handover and mobilisation
Requirements
- Experience in an estimating or surveying role within construction and/or maintenance
- Strong understanding of construction processes, refurbishment and maintenance works
- Experience using Schedule of Rates (SOR) contracts
- Ability to undertake site surveys independently and define scopes accurately
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Competent with Microsoft Office and estimating software
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience working on projects up to £200k in value
- Knowledge of public sector or framework contracts
- Trade background or construction qualification (HNC/HND/NVQ or equivalent)
