Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Safeguarding & Vulnerabilities Team as a Band 5 Reducing Restrictive Practice Nurse/Practitioner. This innovative role will support the Trust's commitment to delivering least restrictive, trauma-informed and person-centred care across all clinical services. The post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to reduce the use of restrictive practices, prevent and manage violence and aggression through early intervention, and improve outcomes and experiences for patients, families and staff.
You will provide specialist advice, deliver training, support incident reviews and quality improvement initiatives, and help staff understand and respond effectively to behaviours associated with distress, dysregulation and complex needs.
This role is integral to reducing the use of restrictive practices by improving staff confidence, capability, and compassion. Through your expertise and leadership, you will help create environments where patients feel safe, respected, and empowered, while supporting staff to deliver high-quality care in the least restrictive way possible.

Knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications
- Registered health or social care professional (e.g. NMC or equivalent) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Qualification or demonstrable experience in: Health and social care, Positive Behaviour Support / behaviour management, Teaching or training delivery.
- Willingness to undertake Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET).
- Evidence of degree / working towards.
Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, distress, or crisis.
