About the Role
The Paralegal will play a crucial role in safeguarding our contractual relationships, ensuring compliance, and enabling the seamless delivery of our pioneering technologies and services. By managing agreements and mitigating legal risks, this role helps empower safer buildings and reinforces our vision as the leading authority in built environment maintenance.
- Legal team: Assisting the Head of Legal in providing day-to-day legal support to the company; point of contact for business colleagues; providing answers to legal queries.
- Contract Review and Negotiation: Reviewing, negotiating, and amending commercial contracts including NDAs, MSAs, supplier contracts, and service-level agreements.
- Drafting: Creating and maintaining standard contract templates including standard terms, statements of work, NDAs, and MSAs.
- Bid support: Advising and supporting sales and marketing teams during bids, RFPs, and tenders.
- Risk Management: Identifying contractual risks and proposing mitigation strategies to protect the organisation's interests.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations, including GDPR and other data protection legislation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with sales, procurement, finance, and other departments to facilitate contract execution and ensure legal compliance while achieving business objectives.
- Contract Management: Assisting in the creation and maintenance of a centralised contract repository, tracking key contract milestones, change control and assignment provisions, monitoring renewal dates, and managing terminations.
- Process and Policy Development: Assisting and/or leading in the creation and improvement of standardised contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and legal processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Dispute Resolution Support: Providing preliminary support and advice on contract disputes and assisting in resolving contractual disagreements.
- Legal Research and Advisory: Keeping up to date with changes in contract law, commercial regulations, and industry best practices to provide informed guidance to the business.
Essential Experience
- Law degree (LLB) or equivalent qualification preferred, or extensive experience in a similar contract management role within a legal function.
- Proven experience in contract management, legal advisory, or a related role, preferably within a SaaS, technology, or B2B environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex legal documents.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
- Ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner to stakeholders at all levels.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance competing priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with contract management software and legal technology solutions is desirable.
- Qualified lawyer.
- Strong understanding of UK commercial contract law and SaaS agreements.
