M365 Architect in Birmingham

We are looking for an experienced M365 Architect on a contract basis to lead several critical architecture initiatives within our Microsoft ecosystem for a well known organisation based in Birmingham . This role spans large-scale SharePoint migrations, enterprise information architecture, and strategic data storage design.

The successful contractor will combine deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder influence, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multiple large-scale SharePoint migrations, including at least three end-to-end projects, with one involving 5TB+ of content.
• Design and implement enterprise-grade information storage architectures, ensuring scalability, performance, and governance compliance.
• Take a holistic information architecture approach, aligning data, content, and metadata strategies with business needs.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to capture requirements and convert them into robust, practical technical designs.
• Provide specialist technical leadership across Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Purview, and related services.
• Support and enhance governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory, security, and organisational standards.
• Act as a trusted advisor, offering insight, challenge, and solution-led thinking to help shape the organisation’s digital and data landscape.

Key Skills & Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience in SharePoint migrations, including complex, high-volume, high-risk migrations.
• Deep technical expertise across the Microsoft 365 platform, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Azure Active Directory, and broader Microsoft information architecture patterns.
• Strong understanding of information management, with the ability to link architecture decisions directly to business outcomes.
• Proven track record of influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• High emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and ability to deliver in environments with competing priorities.

This contract will be offered on a rolling 6 months basis with a one day a week in office requirement.
