Senior Engineering Manager with experience driving software engineering innovation and delivery ideally gained in a product led, scale up or SME environment is sought by a multi award winning vehicle management & technology solutions company based South Birmingham. With hugely exciting growth plans over the coming months this Senior Engineering Manager will play a key role in shaping the technical output of the engineering team driving innovation and new product development whilst working with the board to build a technical roadmap that will form the backbone of organisational growth.
This role would suit a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Manager with hands on system architecture and design capabilities across the Microsoft stack (.Net, C#, Dynamics 365, Power platform etc) with the ability to champion new AI enabled product development. In return this individual can expect a hugely exciting and varied day to day as the business scales with scope to progress quickly to a CTO position.
Key Responsibilities- Take ownership of the operational delivery and output of the engineering team whilst owning a technical roadmap and new product innovation.
- Review existing technical stack, system design, documentation, architecture and project delivery leading on improvements if necessary.
- Hands on solution development when required.
- Line manage a team of five developers with scope to add offshore Developers to management remit.
- Empower the team to upskill in the latest technology.
- Ensure the overall team culture and ethos of collaboration and autonomy is maintained and strengthened through supportive, aspirational leadership.
- Take ownership of business critical, agile application project delivery.
- Act as thought leader for AI tooling innovation and implementation.
- Review third party/ vendor integrations & relationships to assess return on investment.
- Budget management.
- Prior experience operating as a Senior Engineering Manager or senior engineering manager within a product led scale up or SME.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and processes to a non-technical board.
- Strong capabilities across the .Net, C#, Azure System design and architecture skills.
- A mission led, business impact approach to engineering.
- A real positive, can do and flexible attitude with a demonstrable passion and excitement for the journey the company are going on.
- A collaborative, supportive management style with the desire to inspire the team to constantly push themselves and their knowledge base.
- Strong architectural/ system design skills.
- Understanding of Dynamics365 would be useful.
- Any SaaS or PaaS exposure would be a plus.
