SF Recruitment are exclusively partnering with their South Derbyshire-based client to recruit a Materials Controller on a permanent basis.
This is an office based role paying £35,000.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced materials, inventory, or supply chain professional to join a growing manufacturing business and play a key role in ensuring the efficient planning, control, and flow of materials across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the MRP system to ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer demand.
- Plan, monitor, and control inventory levels, balancing material availability with stock investment, waste reduction, and obsolescence management.
- Raise, manage, and track purchase orders, monitor supplier performance, and proactively resolve material shortages or delivery delays.
- Develop accurate material forecasts based on production plans, sales demand, and operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock records and support stock control activities through regular analysis, audits, and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Transport, Depot, Production, and Supplier teams to ensure the seamless flow of materials throughout the business.
- Monitor and report on key inventory, material usage, and operational KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on stock accuracy, inventory optimisation, and operational efficiency.
- Support SAP planning functionality, data integrity, and future MRP development projects.
- Contribute to the development of best practices within materials management and supply chain operations.
About You
- Previous experience in material planning, inventory control, production planning, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems, ideally SAP.
- Solid understanding of inventory management, purchasing, and supply chain principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
