SF Recruitment have partnered with a brilliant, established organisation near Redditch who are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Officer. We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to support our construction operations across multiple live sites. The role is primarily site-based across the midlands but with at least a day in the office per week also, and involves working closely with site supervisors and subcontractors to ensure all works are carried out safely, compliantly, and in line with current UK health and safety legislation. The successful candidate will be proactive, practical, and confident in advising site teams, while also maintaining strong documentation and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Safety & Compliance
    • Conduct regular site inspections and audits across multiple projects.
    • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, HSE guidance, and company procedures.
    • Identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure suitable control measures are in place.
    • Support site supervisors in implementing safe systems of work.
  • Support to Site Supervisors
    • Provide hands-on health and safety guidance to site supervisors and operatives.
    • Assist supervisors with risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permits.
    • Act as a point of contact for safety queries from site teams.
    • Promote a positive safety-first culture on all sites.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Review, create, and update: Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH assessments, Toolbox talks.
    • Maintain accurate site safety records.
    • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, producing clear reports and recommendations.
    • Liaise with management on trends, improvements, and compliance issues.
  • Training & Toolbox Talks
    • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings.
    • Identify training needs and support induction processes for new starters and subcontractors.
    • Ensure all operatives hold relevant certifications (CSCS, plant tickets, etc.).
  • Liaison & Enforcement
    • Liaise with site supervisors and managers, subcontractors, external health and safety consultants, and HSE inspectors where required.
    • Support during inspections or audits.
