Location: Reading (office-based 5 days a week)

SF Recruitment are currently partnered with a large global care company who are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join the team. This is a newly created role within the finance team and will be managing 2 direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process monthly/weekly payrolls accurately and on time using Sage Payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments, RTI submissions)
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries from employees and management
  • Maintain and reconcile payroll records, including starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, and deductions
  • Prepare and submit pension contributions and liaise with pension providers
  • Produce payroll reports for Finance, HR, and senior stakeholders
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and support month-end and year-end processes
  • Lead year-end payroll activities including P60s, P11Ds (if applicable), and audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiency
  • Support payroll audits and respond to external queries (HMRC, auditors)

Ideal Profile

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong, hands-on experience using Sage Payroll (Essential)
  • Advanced Excel skills (Essential)
  • Very organised, great attention to detail and an effective communicator
