The Junior Quality Engineer ensures that all welding and jointing activities using Conventional Butt Fusion, Infrared (IR) Welding, Electro Fusion, and Solvent Cementing technologies are performed in compliance with applicable technical standards (ISO, EN, DVS, DIN, etc.), project specifications, and Piping Systems procedures, within the framework of the company's ISO 9001:2015 certified Quality Management System (QMS).
The role safeguards product integrity, process compliance, and the delivery of high-quality, fully traceable joints and assemblies in all piping and fitting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual, dimensional, and process inspections of welded and jointed assemblies using Piping Systems technologies (Butt Fusion, IR Welding, Electro Fusion, Solvent Cementing).
- Verify that welding and jointing procedures, parameters, and operator qualifications comply with manufacturer specifications and relevant ISO, EN, DVS, and DIN standards.
- Review recorded process parameters (e.g., heating temperature, pressure, time, alignment, and cooling duration) as captured by welding machines, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and full traceability.
- Verify surface preparation, alignment, and environmental conditions before welding or cementing.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to detect and document any deviations or non-conformities.
- Maintain accurate, traceable, and complete inspection records, welding logs, and calibration data in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
- Support calibration control and verification of fusion machines, measuring tools, and inspection equipment.
- Participate in non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Drawing and Material Verification
- Act as a technical support and second line of verification for the Operational team, reviewing issued drawings and material lists to ensure they are complete, clear, and suitable for production.
- Verify that engineering drawings contain all necessary information for fabrication and welding, such as dimensions, tolerances, alignment references, jointing symbols, and process notes, supporting operators in correctly interpreting the design.
- Review that critical dimensions and tolerances are defined and correspond to the actual components and site constraints.
- Cross-check the drawing content against the Bill of Materials (BOM) to confirm that all pipe sizes, materials, fittings, and jointing types are correctly identified and available for use.
- Confirm that only latest approved drawing revisions are being distributed and used in production.
- Report any missing information, unclear technical details, or inconsistencies to the Engineering or H&SQ&S department before fabrication begins, helping to prevent errors or rework.
Pre-Dispatch / Final QC Verification
- Verify that all finished products are included in the approved dispatch list before loading to customers.
- Ensure that all assemblies and joints have passed visual and dimensional inspection and are supported by the required data logs and traceability records.
- Confirm that each product is correctly identified, labelled, and documented in line with the delivery list.
- Check cleanliness, marking, protection caps, and packaging quality prior to loading.
- Sign off on Final QC Release Reports and ensure all documentation is complete and traceable.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure that only approved and traceable materials (pipes, fittings, solvents, etc.) are used in production.
- Verify that equipment calibration, maintenance, and software versions are valid before use.
- Support the preparation of as-built documentation (welding logs, inspection reports, material certificates) for customer handover packages.
- Promote continuous improvement and share feedback on recurring quality issues or process deviations.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements in QA activities.
