QUALITY ENGINEER ROLE OVERVIEW

To be responsible for embedding a strong quality culture into the company by creating and maintaining robust quality procedures and ensuring effective training is provided to the production team so they have the knowledge and skill to achieve the high standard of quality product to guarantee all products meet the correct standards for customer compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality improvements through containment, resolution and deployment of learnings.
  • Carry out root cause analysis on any non-conformities or known quality concerns, either individually or as part of a quality circle.
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers.
  • Coordinate internal actions and validate their success.
  • Use and deploy advanced quality and statistical analysis tools as beneficial to the quality outcomes of the business.
  • Implement quality procedures and roadmaps to meet customer satisfaction and internal quality metrics.
  • Ensure on-going compliance of ISO standards.
  • Maintain the company quality manual.
  • Collect, create and retain all quality documentation, such as traceability records and non-conformities.
  • Co-ordinate and/or carry out internal and external Quality audits.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure that the companies QMS, processes and customer requirements are met at all times.
  • Provide advice and guidance on statutory compliance issues.
  • Improve the standard of documentation throughout the business and operators.
  • Work instructions to ensure operators know the standards expected of their work.
  • Quality alerts to raise profile of specific issues.
  • Failure mode analysis to proactively prevent issues.
  • Drawing revision control and ECN.
  • Supplier quality documentation.
  • Lead quality meetings to ensure cohesion between departments and provide Quality data to enable site improvement.
  • Lead cross functional team initiatives in quality to achieve specific gains.
  • Manage the quarantine areas.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Flexible, tenacious, and diligent approach.
  • Confidence and courage to drive change.
  • Ability to manage own time and priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
  • Hands-on experience in solving problems of all types through structured methods, i.e. 8D.
  • Data analysis and statistical aptitude.
  • Ideally a good engineering knowledge of plastic materials and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in person and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experienced in a hands-on quality role within a mechanically orientated factory environment, such as automotive.
