SF Recruitment are working with a leading manufacturing business within its field in the Coventry area, to recruit a BOM engineer. The business has undergone a significant period of growth driven by new investment and supply into new customer industries, with this being a very exciting time to join!
Purpose: To ensure that bill of materials and routings in the factory are accurate and loaded into the system without inconsistencies or delays or contradictions. This is a critical role as it ensures we make the right parts in the right way, doesn't delay delivery dates for customers and ensures we know what we are making. It also ensures the planning team have the right information to plan and order materials so we can meet customer delivery requirements.
As a BOM Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the Bill of Materials for various products. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure that BOMs are accurate, up-to-date, and complete. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, update and maintain Bills of Materials for various products.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure BOM accuracy.
- Ensure BOMs are complete with all necessary components and materials listed.
- Manage BOM changes and updates through an established change control process.
- Work with suppliers to verify components availability and specifications.
- Analyse BOM data to identify cost saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Ensure BOMs comply with industry standards and company policies.
- Train team members on BOM process and best practices.
- Raise and process purchase orders (Sage/WAP).
- Work closely with the Goods In team to ensure all inbound stock is received accurately and on time.
- Check and validate MRP system data such as lead times, minimum order quantities and costs.
- Support the project team in the transition of new work into operations.
- Validate data (price, quantity, lead time) and report back any discrepancies.
- Support the buyer in obtaining the most competitive prices from our suppliers.
- Help control the supplier database (supplier accreditations).
- Place enquiries for orders, collating and analysing quotations.
- Analyse the demand from orders and schedules to assist with the purchasing and planning function.
- Prepare and process purchasing requisitions/orders to ensure on-time delivery of components and raw materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in BOM management or related field.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Proven experience with ERP systems and BOM management software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
