We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader to supervise and support our Accounts Payable function in South Leicester. You will lead from the front, ensuring invoices and payments are processed accurately, on time, and in line with company policy. This role is key to maintaining strong supplier relationships and delivering a stable, compliant AP operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development
- Provide daily guidance, mentoring and coaching to the AP team
- Conduct regular 1-to-1s and support professional development
- Manage and allocate workload to meet targets and deadlines
- Act as escalation point for complex queries and system issues
- Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and high performance
- Support onboarding and ongoing training
- Operational Delivery
- Oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable process
- Ensure accurate, high-volume processing of invoices, credit notes and debit notes
- Manage supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Review and approve payment runs in line with terms and cash flow requirements
- Monitor KPIs and implement performance improvements
- Ensure compliance with company policies and HMRC requirements (VAT, CIS where applicable)
- Support month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and management reporting
- Service & Continuous Improvement
- Deliver excellent service to internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate priorities and operational challenges clearly
- Provide hands‑on support during peak periods
- Escalate resource or system issues appropriately
- Identify and implement process improvements
About You
- Proven experience in Accounts Payable, ideally in a supervisory or team lead role
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Experience managing high-volume processing environments
- Knowledge of AP controls, reconciliations and payment processes
- Confidence managing stakeholders and resolving escalated issues
