IT Operations Manager is sought by a high-growth Fin Tech based in Nottingham that operates at the forefront of AI innovation across financial services.

As the business continues to grow internationally, they're looking for an experienced IT Operations Manager to take ownership of their corporate IT environment and help build a secure, scalable and well-run technology operation.

This is a hands-on role for someone who relishes the autonomy to drive change.

You'll own the day-to-day IT environment, manage key technology partners, strengthen security and operational controls, and identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes.

This isn't a traditional infrastructure management role, and you won't simply be managing a helpdesk.

You'll be responsible for creating an IT operating model that can scale with the business.

If you're someone who spots an inefficient process and immediately starts thinking about how it could be simplified, automated or improved, this could be a great opportunity.

The Role

As IT Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of corporate IT operations across a modern, cloud-first Microsoft environment supporting teams across multiple international locations.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, internal teams, managed service providers and technology vendors to ensure employees have secure, reliable technology while continually improving the way IT services are delivered.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Owning the day-to-day corporate IT environment across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Windows endpoints.
  • Managing the complete device lifecycle through Intune and Autopilot, including configuration, compliance, applications, procurement and secure disposal.
  • Managing identity and access processes across joiners, movers and leavers.
  • Administering MFA, Conditional Access, group-based access and privileged access controls.
  • Taking ownership of the corporate IT service model, including SLAs, escalation processes, service quality and knowledge management.
  • Managing MSP and technology supplier performance and holding external partners accountable for service delivery.
  • Coordinating IT incidents, recurring problem analysis and appropriate escalation.
  • Supporting the operation of corporate security controls and maintaining evidence for ISO 27001.
  • Helping the organisation prepare for future SOC 2 requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate Saa S, licensing, asset and access records.
  • Identifying duplicated, unused, unmanaged or potentially high-risk technology across the business.
  • Using Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, scripting and integrations to automate repetitive operational work.
  • Developing useful operational metrics covering areas such as service performance, access, devices, Saa S and security.
  • Continually identifying opportunities to simplify processes and improve the employee technology experience.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with strong experience operating a modern Microsoft technology environment who is comfortable combining hands-on technical work with service ownership and stakeholder management.

You'll ideally have experience across

  • Microsoft 365
  • Entra ID / Azure AD
  • Intune and Autopilot
  • Windows endpoint management
  • Identity and Access Management
  • MFA and Conditional Access
  • Joiner, mover and leaver processes
  • ITSM and service delivery
  • MSP / outsourced technology provider management
  • Asset and Saa S management
  • Information security controls
  • ISO 27001 or similar security frameworks
  • Automation of IT processes

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
