We're recruiting for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join a fast-paced and growing business based in central Nottingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a couple of years' experience in finance who is looking to broaden their exposure, take on more responsibility and continue progressing towards a professional accounting qualification.
Working closely with the Finance Director, you'll have exposure across the wider finance function rather than being restricted to one area. You'll play a key role in producing monthly management information, owning several day-to-day finance processes and continually looking for ways to improve how the function operates.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing the monthly reporting pack under the supervision of the Finance Director
- Preparing and posting journals and supporting the wider month-end process
- Owning the credit control process
- Processing internal payroll, with review from the FD
- Managing the contractor pay and bill process
- Running accounts payable
- Responding to finance-related queries from the sales team
- Dealing with external queries relating to invoices and suppliers
- Supporting cash flow management by ensuring key financial information remains accurate and up to date
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to make the finance function more efficient
- Taking ownership of your workload and working with a good level of independence
- Leading internal meetings and confidently communicating with stakeholders across the business
About You
We're looking for someone with around 2-4 years' experience within finance, ideally with well-rounded exposure rather than a background solely focused on accounts payable or receivable.
You'll ideally be:
- Studying towards an accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA
- Experienced in management accounting and contributing towards management information/reporting packs
- Comfortable preparing journals with a good understanding of debits and credits
- Confident working independently and taking ownership of deadlines
- Proficient in Excel, including VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs and similar formulas
- Driven, hardworking and comfortable working within a fast-paced environment
- Confident communicating with different areas of the business and leading internal meetings
This would suit an ambitious finance professional who wants more than a transactional role and is looking for the opportunity to develop their management accounting experience, work closely with a Finance Director and progress their career within a fast-moving business.
