We are supporting a specialist organisation delivering complex projects across highly secure government and defence environments. They are looking for a Network Engineer to join the team and support two ongoing secure programmes across the West Midlands and Tewkesbury.
You must currently hold active DV clearance to be considered for this position. Unfortunately, SC clearance, DV eligibility or previously/lapsed DV cannot be considered due to the requirements of the projects. However, you do not need to be a Senior Network Engineer or tick every technical box below. The business is flexible on seniority and is happy to consider junior, mid-level or senior engineers. If you have current DV, a solid foundation in networking and the ability and willingness to develop into some of the more specialist technologies, we would be very interested in speaking with you.
What you'll be doing
- Installing, configuring and supporting network infrastructure
- Supporting switches, routers and firewalls
- Troubleshooting network and connectivity issues
- Supporting network upgrades and changes
- Carrying out site installations, audits and technical health checks
- Preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Working with customer and internal technical teams to resolve issues
- Producing and maintaining network and implementation documentation
- Developing your knowledge across more advanced networking and data-centre technologies
Technology environment
You do not need experience across all of the following, but exposure to some would be beneficial:
- Cisco routing and switching
- Cisco Catalyst switches
- VLANs, STP and general Layer 2/Layer 3 networking
- BGP and OSPF
- HSRP / VRRP
- Firewalls / network security
- Cisco Firepower / FTD
- IPv4 / IPv6
- QoS and multicast
- NVIDIA Mellanox switches / Cumulus Linux
- EVPN / VXLAN / MLAG / leaf-spine networking
- Linux
- VMware
- Ansible / network automation
What we're looking for
- Current and active DV clearance β essential
- Some practical networking/infrastructure engineering experience
- A foundation in routing, switching, network support or network infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in, or an understanding of, secure environments
- Willingness to work across customer sites and develop technically
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel
